DSWD Investigates Video of Mother Slapping Child

The Department of Social Welfare and Development is investigating the viral video of a woman slapping her child. It is possible that the DSWD will take custody of the child. Nilo Sabangan posted the video on Facebook, which shows the mother lying on a hospital bed, slapping the baby. The baby is crying loudly, but the mother continued to slap it. The video has earned 800,000 views and 5,000 shares. The DSWD is now in the process of taking the custody of the child. Secretary Dinky Soliman said they will assess if the mother is capable of raising a child. She added, however, that it depends on the psychological makeup of the mother; the slapping could be triggered by postpartum depression or a psychological condition. Scroll down for video
